At the start of the story, Stella Montomery lives at the Hotel Majestic at Withering-by-Sea with her three dreadful Aunts. One night, she sees something that she shouldn’t have, and she is plunged into adventure. Over the course of the three books, she faces peril, makes friends, discovers who she really is, and – at last – she finds her family.
